1. Overview

At Sew Splice, we understand that plans can change and unexpected things can happen.
This policy outlines how we handle cancellations, refunds, and transfers for our sewing classes, workshops, courses, and retail purchases

By booking with us or purchasing from us, you agree to the terms set out below.


2. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
You are entitled to a replacement, repair, or refund in the event of a major failure, and to compensation for any reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
This policy does not limit your rights under the ACL.


3. Cancellations by Participants

We invest significant time and preparation into each session — including materials, instructor time, and limited class sizes — so we ask that you provide as much notice as possible if you cannot attend.

Casual Workshops and Single-Day Classes

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled start time may be transferred to another available date or credited for future use.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time are non-refundable and non-transferable, unless otherwise agreed at our discretion.
  • No-shows (failure to attend without notice) will forfeit the full class fee.
  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the scheduled start time will be refunded in full.

Multi-Week Courses

  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the course start date may receive a refund, credit or transfer to another course, subject to availability.
  • Cancellations made within 7 days of the start date are non-refundable unless we can fill your place from our waitlist.
  • Once a course has started, we cannot offer refunds or partial credits for missed sessions.
  • If after attending at least one class you wish to withdraw from the course, you can provide a reason in writing under our money-back guarantee, and a full refund will be provided.

4. Transferring Your Booking

You are welcome to transfer your booking to another person if you are unable to attend.
Please email us at hello@sewsplice.com.au at least 24 hours before the session to provide the new participant’s name and contact details.

Multi-week courses cannot be transferred once the course has started.


5. Cancellations by Sew Splice

We do our best to run all classes as scheduled. However, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule if:

  • Minimum class numbers are not met
  • The instructor is unwell or unavailable
  • There are unforeseen circumstances such as power outages, safety concerns, or other emergencies

If Sew Splice cancels or reschedules your class, you will be offered the choice of a:

  • Full refund,
  • Credit towards a future class, or
  • Transfer to a new date (where available).

6. Private Events and Group Bookings

For private sewing parties, corporate workshops, or group events:

  • A deposit may be required to secure the booking.
  • Deposits are non-refundable once paid unless Sew Splice cancels the event.
  • The remaining balance is due one week prior to the event date.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event start time will forfeit the full payment.

In some cases, we may charge a bond to cover potential damages or excessive cleaning, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions.


7. Illness or Emergencies

If you are unwell or unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please contact us as soon as possible.
We will make every effort to reschedule you or offer a credit, but this cannot be guaranteed.

We encourage participants to stay home if sick — safety comes first.


8. Refund Method

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7 business days. This does not guarantee receipt of funds within 7 business days as processing times by our payment gateway and your financial institution are outside of our control.
Please note that transaction fees charged by payment gateways (such as Stripe, PayPal, or Square) may not be refundable.
